Q&A

Clear answers before the first retainer conversation.

ERP Unlocked is intentionally different from hourly consulting, staff augmentation, managed services, and software implementation. These answers clarify fit, deliverables, involvement, and boundaries.

Fit

When ERP Unlocked is the right model

What is ERP Unlocked?

ERP Unlocked is a retained senior Oracle EBS architecture and governance model for private-sector organizations making high-consequence ERP decisions.

Who is this for?

Typical buyers include CIOs, CFOs, Controllers, VP Applications, ERP program sponsors, and executives responsible for modernization, upgrades, cloud, M&A, integrations, stabilization, or Fusion preparation.

When is this not a fit?

ERP Unlocked is not designed for level-one help desk work, routine staff augmentation, commodity development, or managed services replacement. It is best suited for decisions and initiatives where senior architecture judgment changes the outcome.

Retainers

How the engagement is structured

How are retainers sized?

Retainers are sized by decision complexity, project risk, expected deliverables, stakeholder cadence, vendor involvement, and whether hands-on stabilization or ongoing architecture leadership is required.

Can an engagement start small?

Yes. Many organizations begin with Discovery & Planning to clarify the issue, define the roadmap, and determine whether oversight, stabilization, or ongoing architecture leadership is warranted.

Is this implementation consulting?

Not primarily. ERP Unlocked can shape, govern, review, stabilize, and oversee implementation work, but the core model is senior architecture leadership and executive decision support.

Deliverables

What leadership receives

What deliverables can be included?

Project plans, resource plans, testing strategies, cutover strategies, risk registers, decision logs, vendor reviews, 12/36/60-month roadmaps, recovery plans, executive readouts, and architecture recommendations.

Are deliverables defined up front?

Yes. The retainer should identify the expected work products, meeting cadence, stakeholders, assumptions, and involvement level so leadership understands what will be produced and how the work will operate.

What should we expect from the first conversation?

The first conversation is a fit discussion: the decision at hand, the current state, executive pressure, risk level, likely deliverables, and whether planning, oversight, stabilization, or ongoing architecture leadership is appropriate.

Involvement

How hands-on ERP Unlocked can be

Does Project Stabilization include day-to-day involvement?

Yes. Stabilization may include active participation in working sessions, standups, blocker triage, vendor coordination, recovery planning, testing remediation, and executive escalation.

How is Project Oversight different from Stabilization?

Oversight reviews and governs an initiative that is still under control. Stabilization is for work that is already at risk and needs more active operating involvement to recover.

Can ERP Unlocked participate in vendor or steering meetings?

Yes, when included in the retainer. Participation may include architecture review, vendor challenge, risk review, steering committee preparation, executive readout support, and escalation planning.

Boundaries

What the model does not replace

Is this a replacement for a CIO, PMO, SI, or MSP?

No. ERP Unlocked complements those roles by providing retained senior ERP architecture judgment, challenge, governance, decision support, and stabilization leadership where needed.

Is this license advisory?

Licensing may be considered when it affects cloud, database, architecture, or roadmap decisions. The broader offering is ERP architecture, governance, modernization, and executive decision support.

What is not automatically included?

Full-time project management, full PMO ownership, hands-on development, production DBA administration, managed services, unlimited meetings, legal/tax opinions, or responsibility for vendor delivery are not automatically included unless separately agreed.
